Recent rumours suggested that Xiaomi would soon announce a new an more powerful Mi Band. Ahead of any announcement, Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun was spotted this weekend, teasing what may well be the Mi Band 2 during a conference in China. In one picture, he is seen with the new wearable with the display turned off but a second shows the display lit up.
The pictures confirm that the Mi Band 2 will indeed come with an LCD display and at least one physical button. The latter will presumably allow a user to cycle through different menu options and health and fitness tracking data.
It also appears that the Mi Band 2 will use a rubber strap similar to the one of the current Mi Bands.
It remains to be seen if the Mi Band 2 will sell for as low as the Mi Band. With a display, it is unlikely to be as cheap but it should still sell at a price significantly lower than that of most other wearables.
TheXiaomi Mi Band 2 has not been announced yet. It will likely be unveiled at a June 10th event at which the company is expected to unveil the Xiaomi Mi Max and the latest version of its MIUI mobile operating system.
