IWC Schaffhausen today declared 2016 the year of the Pilot’s Watches as it unveiled a number of new timepieces at SIHH 2016. Among them are two new models in its TOP GUN Miramar line named after the famed U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School. Joining an updated IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun Miramar is the new IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Top Gun Miramar.
At 44 millimetres, the 2016 edition of the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun Miramar is slightly smaller than the original introduced in 2012. It also replaced the triple date display with a single date window to simplify the dial just slightly. The sub-dial located at 12 o’clock now provides combined a hour and minute counter but it retains the original’s in-house 89361 calibre and soft-iron inner cage for magnetic protection.

The new IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Top Gun Miramar is inspired by traditional observer’s watches, where the priority was on optimum legibility of the seconds and minutes. It is also IWC’s first ceramic watch to be available as an entry-level model.
