Samsung Pay is now available in both South Korea and the U.S. Samsung is now getting ready to bring its mobile payment platform to more countries later this year. It has already confirmed plans to deploy it to China in the near future. Business Korea today reports that the company will outline further global expansion plans at its next Samsung Unpacked event on February 21st.
It has already given some hints as to where Samsung Pay will head next. Speaking recently at the Samsung European Forum 2016 held in Monaco, Head of Samsung Pay Europe, Nathalie Oestmann said, “The company’s payment services would be coming to the U.K. and Spain very soon this year.” It remains to be seen if additional countries will be named during the announcement.
The launch of Samsung Pay in the U.K. and Spain could coincide with the launch of the new Galaxy S7 smartphone which is expected to be the star of Samsung Unpacked later this month.
Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin has tweeted an image that suggests that Russia is also in the cards for a coordinated launch of the Galaxy S7 and Samsung Pay.

Currently compatible with a small number of Samsung smartphones (the Galaxy S6 models and the Galaxy Note 5), Samsung Pay support is also coming to the Gear S2 smartwatch (and future smartwatches) later this year. Perhaps Samsung will reveal exactly when at the event.
