Samsung last month unveiled a new fitness tracking band called the Samsung Charm at Mobile World Congress. Like other such wearable devices, it will track a range of daily activities including steps taken, distance traveled and calories burned and sync the datab back to the Samsung S Health app. It will also provide notifications for incoming or missed calls and messages using LEDs.
Samsung showed off two styles for the Samsung Charm. It will be available as both a square or a slender rectangle. The former will pair with a range of bracelets, including leather and metal ones while the latter’s options appear to be limited to a strap of the same colour. Each will be offered in three colours: Rose Quartz, black and gold.
Neither comes with a display, something that allows the small 17mAh battery to last as much as 18 days when the LED notifications are disabled.
Missing from February’s announcement were pricing and availability details. According to information obtained by SamMobile, the Samsung Charm square model will sell for €29.99 (about US$33 or CA$44) and the rectangular one for €39.99 (about US$45 or CA$60).
Unfortunately, there is no word yet on when it will go on sale. It will presumably be offered as an accessory to the latest Samsung smartphones, including the new Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge flagships.
