Samsung announces global rollout for Gear S2 Classic New Edition

Samsung Gear S2 Classic New EditionSamsung at CES 2016 unveiled new Gear S2 classic smartwatch models. These new variants, known as the Gear S2 Classic New Edition, offer a choice of 18K Rose Gold and Platinum finishes. The former comes with an ivory leather band and the latter with a black leather band. The South Korean company today announced that both are now available in China and that it plans on bringing it to more countries “early this year.”

The unveiling of the upgraded version of Samsung’s highly praised smartwatch at CES earlier this month wowed the tech world by merging fashion with technology. To reflect Samsung’s commitment to bringing more choices to consumers, the reintroduction of the Gear S2 Classic takes the intuitive, award-winning design of the Gear S2 and incorporates high-end materials and two unique finishes: 18K Rose Gold and Platinum.

Samsung once again touted its new watch faces. Designed by a range of new partners they offer everything from Peanut characters to artwork by names such as Keith Haring, Jean-Michael Basquiat, Jeremyville and Burton Morris. It also highlighted the growing number of apps, including one for Uber, available for its Tizen-powered smartwatch.

Samsung announced at CES 2016 that the Gear S2 Classic New Edition models would launch in the U.S. in February. Today’s press release did not offer any additional details. There is no word yet on availability in Canada or other specific markets.
