Nixon Watches first announced a line of Star Wars watches (and accessories) nearly a year ago. It has since released a number of additional watches including a Light Side collection. With May the 4th just days away, it is back with new Star Wars timepieces. The Dark Side is represented this time by watches inspired by the Death Star, the moon-sized Imperial military battlestation that could destroy entire planets but eventually proved vulnerable to X-Wings fighters.
The Nixon Star Wars: Death Star collection consists of three timepieces: The imposing 51mm 51-30 SW ‘Fully Operational’, the 45mm Ranger 45 SW ‘Death Star Black’ and the 37mm Time Teller SW ‘Fully Operational.’
The first two feature Death Star dials with the famed planet-busting cannon at the 10 o’clock mark as well as bold printed indices and hours and a printed seconds track. The Time Teller SW’s dial features a textured dial that looks like the surface of the Death Star. All three feature a seconds hand that is green like the Death Star’s laser cannon beam.
All three Nixon Star Wars: Death Star watches use a Miyota Japanese quartz 3 hand movement. All also come with a stainless steel case with hardened mineral crystal glass and a stainless steel screw down caseback engraved with the watch name, the Death Star and the ‘Fully Operational’ motto. The 51-30 SW is water-resistant to 30 ATM (300 metres) while the other two are water-resistant to 10 ATM (100 metres).
The Nixon Star Wars: Death Star watches all come with a solid stainless steel bracelet with locking clasp.
The Nixon 51-30 SW will sell for US$475 (about CA$600), the Ranger 45 SW for US$285 (about CA$360) and the Time Teller SW for US$150 (about CA$190). All can now be ordered directly from Nixon’s website along with a range of accessories including backpacks and belts also inspired by Star Wars.
