The next Apple event may take place slightly later than initially expected. Rumours in early February suggested that the company was looking to schedule its next press event for the week of March 14th with Tuesday, March 15th as the likely date. A report by Re/code‘ Kara Swisher now indicates that Apple will hold the event the week of March 21st, a week later than expected.
It’s not clear at this point if the date did in fact slip by a week or not. March 15th may only have been one of a couple options being considered by Apple before it settled on a date slightly later.
Even if the date has changed, it does not appear that Apple’s agenda has. It is expected to unveil a new 4-inch iPhone model that could be called the iPhone SE or iPhone 5se to replace the aging iPhone 5S, a new iPad 3 that could incorporate some of the features first introduced on the iPad Pro and new Apple Watch band choices along with a new version of watchOS.
The new date has been corroborated by the usually reliable John Paczkowski over at Buzzfeed. He also adds that it could take place at Apple’s Town Hall in Cupertino. If correct, it suggests a smaller affair than usual perhaps because Apple’s senior executives are expected to meet with the goverment over its refusal to hack an iPhone used in a terrorist attack.
