Not all the news out of SIHH 2016 was about traditional watches. Tag Heuer used the event to announce a new exclusive collection of watch faces for the Tag Heuer Connected smartwatch that was announced back in November. The 11 new designs were co-designed with some of the company’s “prestigious” brand ambassadors.
Among the people involved in the project were footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, DJ David Guetta, NFL quarterback Tom Brady, baseball player Giancarlo Stanton, basketball player Jeremy Lin, golfer Jessica Korda and surfer Kai Lenny. There is even a watch face from Tag Heuer CEO Jean-Claude Biver.
They all took a pencil and – together with Jean-Claude Biver, TAG Heuer CEO & President of the LVMH Watch Division – designed a watch face which is not only personalized and exclusive, but also contains cues to their individual universe.
The new Tag Heuer Connected watch faces are available through the TAG Heuer Connected app available for download through Google Play.
The Tag Heuer Connected Watch is the Swiss company’s first smartwatch. It is powered by Google’s Android Wear and a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel low-power processor. Its 1.5-inch (360×360 / 240 PPI) fully circular display is encased in a titanium case with a sandblasted carbide-coated titanium bezel. Selling for US$1,500, it has done well enough for Tag Heuer that the company announced plans to increase production in early December.
