Victorinox, the company behind the famed Swiss Army knife, last week announced a partnership with Acer that would them collaborate on a range of smart accessories. Today at Mobile World Congress, the two companies unveiled the first of these, the Victorinox Swiss Army I.N.O.X. Cybertool. The doughnut-shaped device clips onto the watch, giving it smartwatch capabilities. It can then be easily removed when only a casual watch is called for.
The Victorinox Cybertool gives your watch the usual smartwatch functions, including basic activity tracking, notifications of incoming calls and messages and a multiple time zone display. It also offers two other functions. A “Help” button can send three pre-saved contacts a message with your GPS location in the event of an emergency. “Find my Phone” makes your phone ring so that you can easily find it even when set to silent mode. An LED backlight also improves the readability of the watch dial in the dark.
Shaped like a doughnut, the Victorinox Swiss Army I.N.O.X. Cybertool fits over the watch without obscuring its dial. It essentially looks like an oversized bezel with its own digital monochrome display. The 60mAh promises up to seven days of battery life and is compatible with both Android and iOS smartphones.
The Victorinox Swiss Army I.N.O.X. Cybertool will be offered in either deep black or indigo blue. Pricing and availability were not announced today.
