As expected, LG today unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the LG G5, at Mobile World Congress. Along with it, LG unveiled a line of accessories, including some that will take advantage of the smartphone’s modular design. Among these is the LG 360 VR headset.
Unlike other VR headsets such as the Google Cardboard or Samsung Gear VR, the LG 360 VR does not require that a smartphone be inserted into it. It relies instead on a dedicated USB-C cable that connects to the G5. The result is a much sleeker headset that only weighs 118 grams (4.16 ounces) and is foldable. LG claims that it can simulate a 130-inch TV viewed from two meters away, offering a resolution of 639 ppi.
Two buttons on the top of the headset, back and ok, are used to navigate the VR user interface.
The LG 360 VR works with all Google Cardboard content as well as 360-degree images and videos captured by the new LG 360 CAM accessory that was also unveiled today.
Pricing and availability for the LG 360 VR headset was not announced today.
