Blocks is likely the first (and only?) name that pops into your mind when it comes to modular smartwatches. It raised US$1.6 million on Kickstarter and shipments are now set to begin in September (somewhat later than originally expected). A new modular smartwatch is kicking off its Kickstarter campaign today with a somewhat different approach. The Henlen Watch gives you the ability to wear different watches simply by swapping out the core module between different bodies.
Inspired by timeless designs, along with a modern touch of technology. We embody classic tradition in each of our watch bodies. Using only the finest materials to re-establish the original purpose of a wristwatch; to make a statement.
At the heart of the Henlen Watch is the Cell. The disk-like device consists of the display and all the necessary hardware and software to power a smartwatch. The Cell can be inserted into one of four different bodies, effectively giving you a collection of watches to choose from without the need to buy a completely new watch.
Henlen is kicking things off with the Origin Series. It consists of four different body designs. The Commander Black and Silver offer a more rugged design while the Covert Black and Gold offer a slimmer and more classic-looking design.
The Henlen Watch uses a proprietary operating system that is built on “simplicity and elegance.” The idea is that you should not have to spend more than 3 seconds to access the information you are looking for at any point of the day. Swiping lets you see all relevant information while a click simply dismisses it.
