After a number of false starts, HTC this year finally launched its first wearable earlier this year. In partnership with Under Armour, the company unveiled the UA HealthBox at CES 2016. Billed as “the world’s first connected fitness system ,” it includes the UA Band, a fitness tracker. An oft-rumoured smartwatch may not be far behind if sem-retired leaker @evleaks is to be believed (and he is most of the time).
There is not much to go on but @evleaks says via Twitter that the HTC smartwatch will be out by mid-April. If so, an announcement could come around the time of Mobile World Congress in late February.
.@AnthonydFlemons Nope, but the watch should be out mid-April.

There is no information about what operating system might power this new HTC smartwatch or what its other specifications might be.
Rumours of an HTC smartwatch first surfaced back in October 2013. Early signs pointed to a device based on the Qualcomm Toq as well as a device relying on Google Now. HTC was then named as one of Google’s Android Wear partners when the new wearable platform was first announced. The rumours, along with concept devices such as the ones pictured here, resurface regularly but they have yet to to prove accurate. Could 2016 be the year that an HTC smartwatch finally becomes reality?
