The Google Store launched a new Virtual Reality product category back in February. Among the products it offers is the company’s own Google Cardboard. Unfortunately, it was only available in the U.S. While the virtual category section remains U.S.-only, Google today announced via Twitter that it has expanded Google Store availability of its own Google Cardboard to Canada, the UK, Germany and France.
Bring virtual reality to life with Google Cardboard. Using your smartphone and VR apps, this quality viewer puts the world of VR right in your hands, affordably.
Google Cardboard is an inexpensive way to experience virtual reality. It supports most Android or iOS phones with screen sizes from 4 to 6 inches. A wide range of virtual reality content is available. Among these are games, virtual tours of everything from rollercoasters to trips across the entire solar system, and Cardboard Camera which takes VR photos that offer depth and sound you can see and hear in VR.
In Canada, the Google Cardboard is available for CA$20 (or two for CA$35). Shipments currently leave the warehouse in one to two business days.
Virtual reality will be a key topic at Google I/O 2016. It is quite possible that Google will unveil new VR hardware including a new generation of Cardboard that could come with improved sensors and lenses and perhaps a sturdier plastic construction.
