The “Engineered by HP” program already powers a number of smartwatches. These include the MB Chronowing, the Movado BOLD Motion and the recently announced Titan Juxt. Xcel Brands today announced that fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi is the latest to collaborate with HP to bring his first smartwatch to market. The Isaac Mizrahi Smartwatch is aimed at women and is inspired by “a menswear-meets-feminine look” according to the press release.
“I knew that I didn’t want it to look like the average smartwatch,” said Isaac Mizrahi. “It’s hard to integrate something so modern and mechanical looking into a feminine look, and I wanted the design to be a hidden treasure. The result is beautiful, refined and will be every woman’s BEST accessory.”
Like other “Engineered by HP,” the Isaac Mizrahi Smartwatch retains a traditional analog dial but embeds a small and discrete OLED display in it for basic notifications. It comes to life only when a notification or message needs to be displayed. Missing from the press release are the dimensions of the watch.
The Isaac Mizrahi Smartwatch also offers basic fitness tracking. Information is fed back to a paired smartphone via Bluetooth. A companion app, available for both Android and iOS, provides the usual data and summaries. One feature you will not find on other smartwatches is that this smartwatch follows Mizrahi on Twitter and his tweets automatically show up on the watch.
The Isaac Mizrahi Smartwatch is water resistant to 30 meters. It sports two batteries, one for the analog watch functions that should last several years, and rechargeable one for the smartwatch functions. The latter lasts up to five days.
The Isaac Mizrahi Smartwatch comes in two styles, silver and gold-tone stainless steel. Both come with Swarovski Crystal-outlined faces and interchangeable watch bands. Missing are details about exact dimensions of the watch unfortunately.
The Isaac Mizrahi Smartwatch is now available for order directly from HP. Both models sell for US$249.99. Additional bands sell for US$39.99.
