The reach of the latest version of Android Wear continues to grow. Last week came word that the update had begun to land on the Huawei Watch. It’s the ASUS ZenWatch 2’s turn this week. The update appears to have started a few days ago in a limited fashion.
Based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, Android Wear 1.4 comes with new gestures, additional voice commands, Doze Mode as well as improved battery life and support for additional languages. As one of the few smartwatches with a speaker currently on the market, it will also benefit from the new native speaker support now included in Android Wear.
Assuming that ASUS is indeed using a phased deployment, you may have to wait a few more days to get the update. You can see to see if it’s ready by heading over to Settings > About > Software updates and manually triggering a check. You can also just be patient and wait for the notification inviting you to upgrade to pop up on your watch.
Drop us a note below and let us know if you have received the update on your ASUS ZenWatch 2.
