Kickstarter and other crowdfunding sites have proven popular with watch makers. We have featured a number of such projects in the past and bring you another today. Alvieri, based in Nevada, has taken to Kickstarter for its first watch collection. Inspired by the town of Italian town that gave them their name, the Alvieri Firenze Classic Edition and Firenze Lunar Edition are billed as elegant watches with “really lively” dials.
The dial of both models features a guilloché centre. Ringing it is a convex track with the hours marked with Roman numerals. It gives it a three-dimensional look that promises to come alive when the light hits it at the right angle. The Firenze Classic Edition offers a clean and minimalist dial with no complications and only two hands for the hours and minutes. The Firenze Lunar Edition adds two complications to the dial: a date window at the 6 o’clock mark and a moon dial above.
The Firenze Classic uses a Ronda quartz Caliber 513 while the Firenze Lunar uses the Ronda quartz Caliber 708.
Other than dials and movements, the Alvieri Firenze watches are quite similar in terms of specifications.

Three options are available for the Firenze Lunar:

- Rose gold PVD case with black dial and rose gold hands / black strap
- Silver case with midnight blue dial and silver hands / blue strap
Each back will have the Alvieri logo and unique serial number engraved on the caseback.
Only days into its Kickstarter campaign, Alvieri has already met its modest goal of raising US$10,000. A Firenze Classic can be yours for US$175 (about CA$230) and the Firenze Lunar for US$199 (about CA$260). Best of all, shipments are set to begin in August so you should not have to wait too long for it.
Update (5/24/2016): Alvieri today announced its first stretch goal. Should it raise US$30,000, it will offer backers an exclusive watch box and will cover shipping fees. They also promise that “The sooner we hit this stretch goal, the sooner we can introduce more great options!”
