Withings revealed this week during the Dublin WebSummit event that it will soon unveil a new premium-looking model in its line of Activité smartwatches. The still nameless watch will combine the premium build quality and steel case of the original Activité with pricing closer to its Activité Pop models. “It will be in the price range of the Withings Activité Pop with a premium aspect,” explained Withings CEO Cédric Hutchings.
Whereas the original Activité comes with a stainless steel case, sapphire glass and a genuine leather band, the Activité Pop comes with a PVD-coated metal case and silicon strap. With the former selling for US$450 and the latter for about US$150, the new model will likely fall somewhere in the US$200 to US$300 range.
This new premium Activité smartwatch will offer the same activity and sleep tracking capabilities as current models but will sport some new styling cues. Most importantly, the progress sub-dial will become more prominent. Not only will it be somewhat larger but the main dial hands will be more subdued, drawing more attention to the sub-dial.
The still-unnamed premium Withings Activité smartwatch will be available directly from Withings later this month. Pricing was not announced today.
