Withings today announced a new addition to its growing family of Withings Activité smartwatches. As expected, the new Withings Activité Steel offers up a look similar to that of the more expensive Activité at a price closer to the colourful Activité Pop models.
“While the tracker market is booming we see growing demand from health conscious people who are not willing to compromise their style,” says Cédric Hutchings, CEO of Withings. “Steel is the perfect Christmas gift for those demanding trendsetters.”
The Activité Steel improves upon the Activité Pop by replacing the PVD-coated metal case with a 316L stainless steel one. At the same time, it retains the inexpensive silicone band. It also throws in chrome hands and a tachymeter-inspired activity tracking sub-dial. As early reports suggested, the latter is larger than on the other models but the main dial hands are anything but more subdued.
With the Withings Health Mate application (available for both Android and iOS), the Activité Steel can track progress against a range of goals for a activities such as swimming and running as well as walking. It also functions as a sleep tracker.
The Withings Activité Steel is now available directly from Withings for US$169.95 (about CA$225). It will initially only be available in classic black.
