When Globalive launched its WIND Mobile wireless carrier brand back in 2009, it set for itself the goal of signing up 1.5 million within three years. The company has had to temper its expectations since then. More than five years later, its latest subscriber numbers stand at just over 800,000. It now expects to hit the one million subscriber milestone sometime this year.

CEO and Chairman of Globalive Capital, Tony Lacavera, made the claim yesterday during a fireside chat with CBC’s Amanda Lang at Toronto’s Empire Club.
To reach its milestone, WIND Mobile will need to sign up more than 16,000 new subscribers each month (assuming it hit that milestone in January).
WIND Mobile will be among the Canadian carriers participating in the upcoming AWS-3 spectrum auction set to begin on March 3, 2015.
