Apple today released its first ever update for the Apple Watch. Available through the Apple Watch app on the iPhone, Watch OS 1.0.1 brings with it a number of “performance improvements and bug fixes” for all three Apple Watch collections.
The Watch OS 1.0.1 change log lists the following updates:
- Improved performance for
- Siri
- Measuring stand activity
- Calculating calories for indoor cycling and rowing workouts
- Distance and pace during outdoor walk and run workouts
- Accessibility
- Third party apps
- Display support for 300+ new Emoji characters
- Support for 7 additional languages
As one would expect from a point release, the update does not include any completely new features.
In order to update your Apple Watch, you will need to make sure the battery has at least 50% charge and that the watch is connected to your iPhone. The update is available through General > Software Update on your iPhone.
Today’s update is likely only the first of many that Apple will release over the coming weeks and months. A rumour yesterday gave us a glimpse at other features it is looking to bring in the future.
