The latest Samsung smartwatch, the new Samsung Gear S2, is the latest to be powered by Samsung’s own Tizen operating system. With enhancements such as the new Rotary UX and SDK that uses the new smartwatch’s rotating bezel, Tizen is establishing itself as a worthy adversary for Google’s Android Wear and Apple’s WatchOS.
Fresh off its Tizen Developer Summit in India in late July, Samsung has now announced that its next stop will be in China. The Tizen Developer Conference (DC) 2015 will take place in Shenzhen from September 17th to 18th, 2015. The theme will be “Tizen: The Best Way to Connect Everything.”
The full schedule for Tizen Developer Conference 2015 has been published and includes the following keynote speakers and their topics:
- Hyogun Lee, Executive Vice President of Software Center at Samsung Electronics: Present and future of Tizen, Tizen’s roadmap and progress, and Samsung’s IoT strategy with Tizen
- Guangnan Ni, Academic at the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Consultant for the China OS Alliance: Open source policy of the Chinese government and what it expects from Tizen
- Bo Wang, Vice President of Tencent Mobile Internet Group: Business opportunities and development examples utilizing Tizen
- Evan Spytma, APAC Regional Manager GM of Unity, a global game engine developer: Key features of Unity 5 and the business models that empower developers to publish to Tizen globally.
- Liu Jun, Vice President of Baidu: Introduction of service apps based on LBS (Location Based Services) on Tizen Platform
- Curtis Sasaki, Vice President of Ecosystems and IoT General Manager for Samsung Strategy & Innovation Center (SSIC): Challenges and opportunities for development in the Internet of Things
Among the 38 technical discussions will be wearable-speific topics such as “Apps on Your Wrist – A Tizen Wearable Overview” and “Wearable Sensors in Health Applications.”
The event promises to give participants “plenty of opportunities to experience first-hand the many cutting-edge, Tizen-related products, including wearables, mobile devices and TV sets.”
Registration for Tizen Developer Conference 2015 is now open and costs ¥150.00 (about US$24 or CA$31).
