Withings yesterday announced that it has updated its Activité and Activité Pop smartwatches to offer automatic swim detection. In doing so, it claims to be are the first activity trackers on the market to offer automatic swim detection.
Withings updated its Android and iOS Health mate companion app to detect the motions associated with swimming, enabling it to track swimming workouts to provide information about the length of your swimming workout and total calories burned.
Water-resistant to 50 meters, readable in bright sunlight and able to track your swim at any time, Activité and Activité Pop are ready for all your summer adventures.
Jump into the pool, hit the lake or dive into the ocean — your Activité or Activité Pop will automatically recognize your movements as a swim workout. Once you have finished the workout, you’ll be able to view calories burned and total time of your swim workout.
Withings is also promising to make further updates to its swim tracking features. No timelines were given as to what these may be or when we can expect them.
The Withings Activité and Activité Pop are available in a number of countries including Canada and the U.S. In Canada, they can be picked up through Best Buy where the Activité (with white dial and brown strap or black dial and strap) sells for CA$599.99 and the Activité Pop (in Bright Azure, Shark Gray or Wild Sand) for CA$179.99.
