As Samsung begins to roll out Android Lollipop updates to its mobile devices, it has also updated its Samsung Gear app (formerly known as Gear Manager) to connect and manage its Gear smartwatches from Samsung devices.
Some early recipients of the Lollipop update have reported compatibility issues between the two, prompting Samsung to issue an update. Two specific issues have been resolved with version 2.2.15011799 of Samsung Gear. The first is an issue where the app would not reconnect to a paired watch after losing connection has been resolved. The app is also once again able to also start automatically after a smartphone reboot.
Samsung has not provided a changelog for Samsung Gear version 2.2.15011799 so it’s not clear what other issues may have been fixed.
The latest version of Samsung Gear is a free download from the Galaxy Apps store app on your Samsung smartphone. If you have auto-update enabled, it should automatically get updated within the next day or so.
