The Moto 360 smartwatch impressed many last year (and continues to do so). Not only did its round display give it a stylish look that most competitors lacked but its wireless charging capabilities made it a cinch to charge. In stark contrast, Samsung’s smartwatches use an awkward clip-on charging dock. A report by SamMobile today suggests that Samsung’s next watch, likely the round-faced Orbis, will ditch this system in favour of a more convenient wireless charging one.
Past rumours have already suggested that the Samsung Orbis will sport a number of rather unique features. These include a rotating bezel ring and multi-function crown. It now looks like we can include wireless charging to that list. Exact details on how this will work are not known yet. Will Samsung opt to go with a wireless charging cradle like the Moto 360 has or does it have a different solution in mind?
Samsung is reportedly looking to launch the Orbis in early 2015. Perhaps it will be introduced at MWC 2015 alongside the Galaxy S6 flagship smartphone.
