After a flurry of smartwatches early, Samsung this year pinned its hopes on the Gear S2. Its first round smartwatch, it also comes with a unique rotating bezel that can be used to control certain functions. It has generally been well-received and should help Samsung regain lost ground in the increasingly competitive smartwatch market. Samsung may soon announce two new colour options for the Samsung Gear S2 classic which offers “a more timeless watch design.”
The Gear S2 classic (also known as the SM-R7320) is currently available only in black. If the rumour pans out, consumers could soon pick it up in either Platinum or Rose Gold. According to the rumour’s wording, these are “color options” rather than new case materials. If so, the new colour options could be offered at the same cost as the current model.
There is no word on whether the more modern Samsung Gear S2 will also see new colour options early next year.
Samsung has in the past offered similar Platinum and Rose Gold colour options on its smartphones. Such colour options could users to pair their smartphones and Gear S2 classic smartwatches.
There is no word yet on availability and pricing. The latter could fall in line with the current model’s pricing (US$ $349.99 or CA$429.99 regularly). With CES 2016 and MWC 2016 both not far away, Samsung could make an announcement at either event.
