Rumours that Samsung will announce the Galaxy Note 5 earlier than IFA 2015 continue to grow. Following rumours last week that Samsung would hold its next Unpacked event on August 12th, Business Korea today reports that the event will in fact take place a day later on August 13th in New York City.
The report also supports claims that the South Korean company will unveil both the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge Plus. It does not make mention of the Samsung Gear A smartwatch. The original Galaxy Gear was introduced alongside the Galaxy Note 3 and the company could once again unveil a number of products alongside its new flagship smartphones.
Rumours that Samsung would not wait until September for its next Unpacked event first surfaced in May. The company is widely seen to be looking to get its next flagship smartphone out before Apple launches its next iPhone (the iPhone 6S?). According to the publication, “It is believed that Samsung tries to not only check Apple, which threatens its number one position in global smartphone market share, but also capture consumers before the release of the iPhone 6S in Sept.”
Here is hoping that we’ll soon hear whether the Samsung Gear A will be part of the announcement or not.
