Samsung Canada already offers a selection of Samsung wearables to Canadians. Most strap to their wrists but, later this month, they’ll be able to strap one to their heads and jump into the world of mobile virtual reality. The company this week announced its Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition for Galaxy S6 will be available starting on July 17th.
Developed in partnership with Oculus VR, it will allow Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge owners to immerse themselves in new worlds and experiences courtesy of a selection of videos, short films, games and other content available through the Oculus Store.

Using the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge’s Quad HD Super AMOLED display, the Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition offers a 96 degree field of view. It also sports accelerator, gyrometer and proximity (mount/unmount detection)s sensors to track head movements to improve the experience.
The Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition for S6 is now available for pre-order through Best Buy Canada for CA$249.99. It will be will available for purchase online at BestBuy.ca and in-store at Samsung Experience Stores’ starting on Friday, July 17th.
