Samsung’s Tizen operating system powers the majority of its Gear smartwatches and a growing number of other devices, including the Samsung Z1, its first Tizen-powered smartphone. Knowing that the success of Tizen depends in large part on a thriving app ecosystem, Samsung this week announced its next Tizen Developer Summit to woo developers to turn their attention to its operating system. The Tizen Developer Summit India will take place in Bangalore, India on July 30st and July 31st, 2015.
We are excited to announce Tizen Developer Summit India! This technical event is for application and platform developers seeking to learn more about Tizen, an open platform that powers a wide range of smart devices, including the Samsung Z1. The conference program will feature technical content for App developers, platform designers, ISVs, OEMs, hardware vendors, software vendors, open source enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to learn more about Tizen.
Tizen is a game changer as it is open source and provides an excellent experience for both native and HTML5 application developers. Programmers acquainted with web programming or C can develop cost effective applications in a short time with Tizen. In addition, popular development frameworks such as Unity3D and Cocos2d-x can be used to rapidly deploy applications into the Tizen Store.
While a full schedule has yet to be announced, wearables will be one of the tracks of the summit. Presumably Samsung will give developers a better look at its new Software Development Kit (SDK) for the “next generation of the Gear device,” namely the Samsung Gear A (or Samsung Orbis) smartwatch with a circular display.
Samsung chose to host this latest Tizen Developer Summit in India as nearly 50% of the Apps in the Tizen Store were created by Indian developers.
Registration for the Tizen Developer Summit India is now open. An early bird 50% discount that brings the price down to INR 1999 (about CA$40) is in effect until July 3rd.
