Smartwatches with round faces were once an exclusive club. The Moto 360 and Whitings Activité were among the few such devices but the doors to the club are now wide open. LG announced the LG G Watch R just days before IFA 2014 and more such devices were unveiled this week at CES 2015. One manufacturer still not offering a round-faced smartwatch is Samsung but that could change very soon. SamMobile has learned that a round-face Samsung smartwatch could be announced as early as MWC 2015 in early March.
Codenamed Orbis, this latest Samsung smartwatch will reportedly bear model number SM-R720. As with Samsung’s other smartwatches, it will be powered by Tizen. But it may also come with a rather unique feature: A ring-operated interface (pictured above as a patent filing) by which certain features will be managed by rotating a ring encircling the display.
With Samsung also readying its Galaxy S6 flagship smartphone, could the company unveil both new devices at an event during MWC 2015 (much as it did last year with the Galaxy S5).
