New information continues to emerge about the Samsung Gear A smartwatch. Past rumours had suggested that a number of variants would be offered and new details, once again obtained by SamMobile, have now revealed that at least three different models could be planned.
While it’s not clear what the differences will be, we now know that the three models will be the SM-R720, SM-R730 and SM-R732. They are known internally as the Orbis S1, Orbis S2 and Orbis Classic.
It’s not clear how these variants will differ from one another. Different connectivity configurations is one possibility as a past rumour suggested that some models would have Wi-Fi and that others would not. Another possibility is that Samsung will follow Apple in offering different models using a range of materials.
Samsung has already confirmed that its next smartwatch will come with a rotating bezel ring to allow for a new kind of interaction with the device and Tizen 2.3.1. Other expected specifications include a Samsung Exynos 3472 processor, a circular display with a resolution of 360 by 360 pixels, 768 MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a 250mAh battery and a heart rate monitor.
Samsung is now expected to unveil the Gear A at an IFA 2015 event dedicated to wearables at IFA 2015 in early September.
