All the recent second-generation Moto 360 sightings, including one by Motorola itself, suggest that an announcement is imminent. Another clue telling us that this event is not far enough came Friday when Motorola stopped selling the original Moto 360 on its U.S. website.
The Moto 360 link has disappeared off the home page but the product information page is still available and still shows the current price of US$149.99. The “Build yours” link on that latter page no longer allows you to customize and purchase it. The link instead now takes you to the Moto 360 support page.
Motorola has presumably managed to sell all of its original Moto 360 inventory in preparation for the launch of the new Moto 360. We still don’t know exactly when it plans on making it official but we expect it could be as early as next week at IFA 2015.
The Moto 360 (2015) is expected to come in two sizes but will look very similar to the original. Two major differences are exposed lugs to which the strap attaches and the repositioning of the crown to the two o’clock position. The round display looks set to retain the black bar at the bottom but should bump the resolution up somewhat. The larger of the two models is also expected to sport a larger 375mAh battery.
If you’re still hoping to pick up the original Moto 360, you can still find it (for now) on the Google Store (both in Canada and the U.S.). In Canada, you might still find it at Best Buy and some carriers (including Koodo which is offering it for free in a Moto X Play promotion).
