Moto 360 headed to Moto Maker in March

Rumoured MotoMaker for Moto360Motorola’s Moto Maker has so far only been used to customize its Moto X flagship smartphones. Back in January, Motorola Chief Operating Officer Rick Osterloh dropped a big hint that it would soon bring MotoMaker customization options to its Moto 360 smartwatch. Nothing has been officially announced yet but Wired today reported that a new version of Moto Maker will launch in March. This new version will allow you to customize not only your smartphone but also your Moto 360 smartwatch.

Moto Maker will allow you to choose from three watch casing options: silver, black and champagne gold. You’ll then be able to add either a leather or metal band and choose from two sizes: 23 millimeters and 18 millimeters. It will also offer a single-link band. You’ll also be able to choose from one of 11 watch faces to greet you the first time you turn your watch on.

“We clearly believe in the power of choice, as a brand. And this is really empowering. To be able to design your own watch—it’s not an analog watch, it’s a highly sophisticated device of the future. To be able to do that at this level, we just think it’s going to be incredibly liberating,” explains Dickon Isaacs, Motorola’s director of design for wearables.

The new Moto Maker interface will be familiar to anyone who has played with the current version. While options may not be as far-reaching as they are for the Moto X, the same overall experience will let you see the finished product before it ships from the Moto Maker facility in Shenzhen, China.

There is no word on exactly when in March the new Moto Maker site will launch. It also remains to be seen if it will be available in Canada where we have so far been limited to a few Moto X and Moto 360 preset combinations.
