The Kickstarter campaign for the modular Blocks smartwatch wrapped up today. By all accounts, the campaign was a success with UK-based Blocks Wearables raising more than US$1.6 million from more than 5,000 backers.
Blocks met its funding goal of US$250,000 less than an hour into its Kickstarter campaign. Two weeks later, it had raised more than US$1 million. With the campaign reaching its end today, it now stands in the top 15 technology Kickstarter campaigns worldwide and top 3 technology Kickstarter campaigns in Europe of all time.
With a number of stretch targets having been met, Blocks Wearables has upgraded the Blocks smartwatch to an AMOLED display, Gorilla Glass for the Core display and reduced shipping costs for backers. Along with the three original colours, it also added a metallic finish as an optional add-on.
If you missed out on the Kickstarter campaign and still want to get your hands on a Blocks smartwatch, you can now pre-order one directly from Blocks. The Core display module and four additional modules sell for US$330. The estimated shipping date is June 2016 while backers can expect to get theirs about a month earlier.
