It’s been quite the day for smartwatches. And it’s not over yet. Fresh from announcements from ASUS, Huawei and Motorola, the rumour mill now suggests that LG will unveil its next smartwatch before the end of the month.
While there are no specific details, AndroidPolice has learned that the new watch will sport a round display and be about the same size as the LG Watch Urbane and LG G Watch R. But the new smartwatch is expected to have a “more angular and sharp” case. A “substantial metallic bezel around the circular display” suggests that LG will stay away from the black bar design favoured by Motorola.
Two buttons will frame the crown set at the traditional 3 o’clock mark. This layout will be familiar to anyone who has used a typical chronograph watch.
Less is known about the band. It could be either silicone or a rubber material with a clasp system similar to that on current LG smartwatches. A highly textured matte leather is another option.
It all translates to a smartwatch with an aesthetic that “isn’t quite like any other smartwatch we’ve seen.”
It’s not clear if this is the rumoured LG Nemo with its display with a resolution of 480 by 480 pixels. It could also be the more rugged LG-VC110 which recently popped up on the FCC website but this is less likely as this model does not appear to have a round display.
