LG is widely expected to unveil the LG G4 as its LG G3 successor sometime in the first half of the year. A rumour just days ago suggested that it would come with a 3K display offering a staggering 1620 by 2880 pixel resolution. We had our doubts and an Android 5.0 system dump provided to us today suggests that it was indeed too good to be true.
The system dump shows that there will be a number of models of the LG G4. This is not unusual in itself as different permutations are often required for different carriers and countries. For example, a number of LG G3 models were offered by LG. In this case, three models are identified: LG-F500K, LG-F500L and LG-F500S. If past nomenclature is any indication, these LG-F500 models will be headed to South Korea’s three major carriers.
The file also shows that all three models will come with a QHD (2560×1440) display rather than the rumoured 3K display.
It should be pointed out that the device sporting a 3K display was identified as the LG-VS999 rather than LG-F500. It is therefore still possible that an LG G4 variant will indeed sport the higher resolution display.
