It has been more than six months since Google last updated Google Fit. It rectified this situation yesterday with a new version that adds a number of new features.
The biggest addition is the new Fit Challenge feature that works with your Android Wear smartwatch. It is essentially a basic personal trainer that shows you how to do some basic exercises and then counts your reps using the accelerometer. Your progress is tracked over the course of a 30 day program with the intensity of your workout gradually increasing. Three levels of difficulty, beginner, intermediate and advanced, allow you to better control the training intensity.
Google has also added a new Android Wear interactive digital watch face. Both it and the analog watch face are interactive, albeit limited to a single button that takes you directly to the Fit application.
The latest version of Google Fit is now available in Google Play. It is a free download.
