Apple last week confirmed that wrist tattoos can interfere with the Apple Watch heart rate sensor. The company explained that, “Permanent or temporary changes to your skin, such as some tattoos, can also impact heart rate sensor performance. The ink, pattern, and saturation of some tattoos can block light from the sensor, making it difficult to get reliable readings.” The company has now come up with a fix called the Apple Watch Hand.
Apple’s marketing machine was also quick to action as well. It points out that “It’s not a glitch if we can sell you a fix.”
Conan O’Brien was given an early look at the Apple Watch Hand. Check it out for yourselves:
As the video shows, it may take you a bit of time to get used to your new Watch Hand but it’s a small price to pay to have the Apple Watch working as designed.
The Apple Watch Hand is available for US$499. There is no word yet on whether Sport or Edition models will be offered.
