While there were some rumours last year that HTC would drop the Mx designation for its flagship smartphones, more recent advice has suggested that it would instead continue its current naming nomenclature but with a small change. HTC’s own website has now inadvertently confirmed that it will name its HTC One (M8) successor the HTC One M9. Yes, the brackets are gone.
The discovery was made on HTC’s Dutch website. As you can clearly see in the source code, the HTC One M9 is referred to several times. The code also reveals that HTC will use the tagline “One Life” to market its newest flagship smartphone.
HTC is expected to unveil the HTC One M9 at MWC 2015 at a press event on March 1. Its latest flagship could be unveiled alongside the company’s first wearable, currently known as the HTC Petra. As for the HTC One M9, it is expected to come with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, a 5-inch Full HD (1080×1920) display, 3GB of RAM, a 20.7MP rear camera and a 4MP UltraPixel front camera. It should also be the first device to sport HTC Sense 7.0 on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop.
