HTC this week sent out press invitations for an event set to take place on March 1st, the eve of Mobile World Congress. As is so often the case, the invitation reveals little about what HTC has on tap for its announcement. The tagline, “Utopia in progress,” certainly provides no hints that we can think of.
With the event coming almost a year after HTC unveiled its HTC One (M8) flagship smartphone, it’s likely that HTC will unveil its latest flagship smartphone at the event. Apparently codenamed Hima, it’s been the topic of a few rumours already.
Could HTC also use the event to unveil its first smartwatch?Unveiling its first wearable alongside its latest flagship certainly makes sense but rumours that HTC has cancelled plans to offer a smartwatch suggest we should not get our hopes too high. Then again, conflicting rumours suggest that HTC’s first smartwatch was not cancelled but simply delayed to early 2015.
