Google would prefer that everyone strap an Android Wear smartwatch to their wrist but it is well aware that the Apple Watch will likely end up as the best-selling smartwatch this year (and likely for a few more years after). Recognizing this, it has taken the first step to bring its services to Apple’s first wearable. The latest version of its Google News & Weather app is now ready for the Apple Watch.
The new functionality is quite basic but brings the latest headllines and a photo to your watch. You can save specific articles by using the Force Press and come back to them later courtesy of the iOS Reading List. It also offers a basic Glance feature.
It remains to be seen if Google will bring add Apple Watch support to its other iOS apps.
Google News & Weather is available as a free download on the Apple Store.
