Now that you have both an Apple iPhone and Apple Watch, things may have gotten a bit more cluttered where you normally charge your devices. Not only do you have at least one device that will require nightly charging at the end of the day but you now have one cable for the smartphone and another for the smartwatch. Enter Duet, a Kickstarter project that promises to eliminate the “need to worry about your charging routine, messy cables, or where you’ll keep your devices when they’re not in use.”
Duet is an elegant charging solution that consists of an iPhone charging base and a detachable arm for the Apple Watch. Machined from a solid block of aluminium, it would likely fit comfortably at home on your nightstand. The two components are held together by neodymium magnets until you decide to separate them when you need them to work independently. For example, you could have your Apple Watch charger on your nightstand and the iPhone one in your office.
In fact, two Duet variants will be offered, letting you choose whether the Watch arm should sit to the right or the left of the iPhone base for those times that the two will work as one.
Duet will be offered in Space Gray, Silver and Gold. More colours could be offered as limited edition colours as stretch goals. Another stretch goal could see the inclusion of charging cables as they are not currently included.
Duet is expected to sell for US$99 (about CA$120). Early backers can pick it up for US$79 (about CA$95) as an earlier US$69 (about CA$85) pledge tier is now gone. Shipments are expected to begin in July.
With 29 days to go, the Duet Kickstarter campaing has already raised more than US$19,000 out of its US$25,000 goal. Not only does it appear that this campaign will be successful but the team better get a few stretch goals ready!
