While many electronic manufacturers are rushing into the smartwatch arena and trying their hands at luxury devices, Swiss-based Breitling today announced the Breitling Chronoliner, a traditional watch that suggests that they still have far to go to match the aesthetics of the high-end luxury watch market.
Breitling reached back to the 1950s and 1960s for inspiration for what it bills as “an authentic captain’s watch,” not that you have to be a flight captain to wear one of course.
Sparse compared to many other Breitling watches, the Chronoliner remains distinctive thanks to its black dial, contrasting white chronograph counters at 12, 9 and 6 o’clock and GMT hand tipped with a flourish of red.
A chronometer-certified chronograph to measure flight times, a second timezone display in 24-hour mode to juggle time differences around the planet, a scratch-resistant high-tech black ceramic bezel: the new Chronoliner reinterprets the spirit of aviation in an original and timeless style.
