Breitling this week unveiled a new 44mm addition to its Avenger Blackbird line of the black-on-black watches. The Swiss watchmaker launched the line last summer with a 48mm model inspired by the “stealth” Lockheet SR-71 Blackbird supersonic reconnaissance aircraft. The smaller model should broaden the appeal of this line.
High-performance, accurate and functional by nature, the Avenger Blackbird in its 48 mm version embodies a concentrated blend of the Breitling spirit. It confirms these qualities in a new 44 mm diameter with an equally strong presence on the wrist. Its watchword is undoubtedly ‘power in action’
Like its bigger sibling, the Breitling Avenger BlackBird 44 sports a utilitarian dial that features neither chronograph or subdials to ensure optimal legibility. It does retain a rotating bezel to track flight times.
