Intel-owned Basis yesterday announced new features are coming to its Basis Peak fitness tracker thanks to an app update and new firmware.
Now you can share your data with some of your favorite fitness apps, help us try out some fun new features, start timing your workouts with a stopwatch function and get a better read on your heart rate. These new updates also provide improved connectivity and performance, giving you a better Peak experience.
The latest version of the app, bearing version number 1.10.0, now allows you to share key Peak data with both Apple Health and Google Fit. The shareable data includes heart rate, steps, duration of activities such as biking and running and sleep information. Throw in your weight data and you can add your caloric burn data to the list.
On the firmware side, Basis has made improvements to the heart rate detection feature and connectivity and added a stopwatch with the usual features (start, stop, lap and reset). More interesting is the new Basis Peak Playground. Described as “an open, experimental and fun place where you can help us test new prototype features and provide invaluable feedback,” it will allow Basis to try out new features. The first two are a location feature that adds reminders to your activity feed about places where you have been and a selfie editor that lets you adjust your smile line to match your mood.
Both the new Basis Peak app and firmware are now available.
