The Pebble Time just landed at Best Buy but it will soon have to share the shelf space with one more competitor. Best Buy USA yesterday announced that it will soon become the first national retailer, other than Apple Stores, to carry the Apple Watch. Starting on August 7th, the national retailer will offer “one of the year’s most talked about and innovative products” at some 100 stores as well as online. It will expand availability to an additional 200 stores in time for holiday shopping.
“The Apple Watch is a big addition to our stores and website, and we know our customers want it,” said Jason Bonfig, senior category officer at Best Buy. “We are excited to bring the Apple Watch to more consumers, especially with the holidays coming up.”
Best Buy will offer customers 16 different watch Sport and Watch models in both 38mm and 42mm sizes. It will not offer the high-end Apple Watch Edition models. Almost 50 accessories, including watch bands, screen shields, stands and chargers, will also be available.
Best Buy will update its website in the coming days with additional information about the Apple Watch. It will also reveal which stores will carry the smartwatch.
There is no word yet on whether Best Buy Canada will follow suit and soon bring the Apple Watch to its stores as well.
