Best Buy USA announced earlier this week that it would begin to sell the Apple Watch at some 100 locations as well as online starting on August 7th. Missing from the announcement was whether Best Buy Canada would do the same. The retailer has now confirmed that the Apple Watch is coming to Canadian retail locations as well but a week later.
In an email to MobileSyrup, Tony Sandhu, senior vice president of merchandising at Best Buy Canada, explained, “We know our customers want Apple Watch. It has become one of the most popular searched products on BestBuy.ca. We’re excited to bring the highly-coveted Apple Watch to more Canadian consumers, especially with the holidays coming up.”
Starting August 14th, Best Buy Canada will carry 16 different watch Sport and Watch models in both 38mm and 42mm sizes. The Apple Watch Sport starts at CA$449 and the Apple Watch at CA$669. Much as in the U.S., the retailer will not carry the high-end Apple Watch Edition models.
It’s not clear how many Best Buy Canada stores will offer the Apple Watch at first but the company expects that it will be in about 50 stores in time for the holiday shopping season.
