OnePlus today took to social media to tease us that it has some kind of wood-related announcement or event set for July 22. The teaser image reveals very little, showing only a wood grain background, a “Knock on wood” tagline, the date and its logo.
While the company is still only taking orders for its OnePlus One smartphone by invitation, it may well be that it is about to start offering new back covers. It has promised a range of back plates when it first made its OnePlus One announcement. If so, it remains to be seen if other patterns, including a denim one, will launch at the same time.
OnePlus also promised a line of accessories back in early July. Perhaps some will be announced then as well.
Meanwhile, we suspect that quite a few people are instead “knocking on wood” that OnePlus will finally announce general availability of the OnePlus One so that they don’t have to beg or plead to get their hands on an invitation to plunk their money down. OnePlus had indicated some time back that it would not be earlier than late June but we’re now in July and, based on their last production update, it appears that it may be a while yet before we reach that point.
