Rogers Communications announced today that it is expanding the reach of its Vicinity loyalty program to Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. The loyalty program, which we reviewed last year, essentially allows you to use a single loyalty card across a range of participating small businesses. For example, the same card will work at your local coffee shop, your favourite restaurant as well your barber with each merchant offering its own rewards.
“Canadians are devoted customers and they love getting rewards at their favourite, local small businesses. The average Canadian belongs to seven different loyalty rewards programs and shops to accumulate points,” said Fiona Lake Waslander, General Manager, Vicinity, Rogers. “Our Western expansion allows us to bring more value and savings to shoppers while offering an easy to implement, customizable loyalty program in over 75 cities across Canada including Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Ottawa.”
Vicinity offers both Android and iOS apps that allow you to track the points you’ve collected and see what rewards you might be eligible for. In fact, the Android app recently got a much needed user interface overhaul.
The Vicinity loyalty card is now accepted at over 500 local small businesses across Ontario, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, British Columbia and Alberta. It is also headed to more Canadian cities “in the coming months.”
