Verizon reveals HTC One (M8) for Windows ahead of launch

Rumoured HTC One (M8) for Windows

If there was any doubt that HTC’s August 19 event will be about the HTC One (M8) for Windows, it now looks like you can with almost complete certainty put them to rest. An image found on Verizon’s own server (for now at least) shows the upcoming device.

As expected, it very much looks like an HTC One (M8) but runs the tile-based Windows Phone 8 operating system. It shows the new on-screen navigation keys introduced with Windows Phone 8.1. Judging by the presence of BlinkFeed and HTC Camera tiles, it also appears that HTC has ported some of its apps over to Windows Phone.

On the hardware side, the HTC One (M8) for Windows is expected to be very similar to the original HTC One (M8) announced back in March. That should include a 5-inch Super Full HD (1080×1920) LCD3 display, LTE connectivity, a 5MP front facing camera along with the rear HTC Duo dual camera and an IR blaster.

There is no word yet on whether HTC plans on bringing the HTC One (M8) for Windows to other markets and carriers.

Rumours that Microsoft was wooing HTC back to the Windows Phone family surfaced last year and never really faded away. It certainly appears at this point that it was successful. Final and official confirmation should come on August 19.
