Upcoming Motorola Moto E to sell for less than Moto G?

Zauba entry for Motorola Moto EMotorola is set to unveil its next smartphone at an event next week. The main event will take place in London but regional events in a number of countries including Canada and India suggest that Motorola has global ambitions for this device. Recent rumours suggest that the new handset will follow in the Moto G’s footsteps and be another inexpensive smartphone. India’s Zauba imports tracking database has now given these further credibility. The rumoured Moto E makes an appearance on it with an entry dated May 3.

Zauba reveals only a few details about the Moto E. The entry lists not only the name but also the model number, giving us the first tangible link between the XT1022 and the Moto E. It also confirms that it will come with 4GB of internal storage and that a white model will be available. The Moto E is also listed with a unit price of INR 6,330 (about CA$115). Even if the retail price comes in slightly higher, Motorola does appear to have a smartphone that will be “priced for all.”

In terms of other specifications, the Moto E is expected to come with a dual-core processor, Google Android KitKat, 3G connectivity, a 4.3-inch display, a 5MP rear camera and a 1,900mAh battery. It could also be a very slim phone at only 6.2 millimeters thick. Three variants are planned: The single SIM XT1021, dual-SIM XT1022 seen here, and the XT1025 with dual-SIM and digital TV support.

Neither the XT1021 or XT1025 appear in the Zauba database, suggesting that they are models intended for other markets.

All should be revealed next week.
